A New York–born, Costa Rican–rooted, military-shaped woman who has lived just about every chapter of the hair journey. From childhood ponytails and barrettes, to wigs and protective styles, to finally embracing my natural crown and joining the loc community—I’ve lived the struggle, the transition, the healing, and the awakening.
Like so many of us, I grew up in a world where beauty was defined through lenses that didn’t reflect my texture, my culture, or my truth. Locing my hair in 2015 wasn’t just a style move—it was a reclaiming of identity. A declaration of self-acceptance and freedom. But even then, one thing kept getting on my nerves:
Why was getting curls on locs such a whole production?
Hours of setting. Too much heat. Awkward in-between styles. Scarves, rods, dryers, prayers… and still not the effortless, luxurious curls we deserved. It wasn’t giving convenience, joy, or ease.
So, I did what many of us secretly dream of—I created the solution I couldn’t find.
What began as a personal “there has to be a better way” moment transformed into a patent-approved innovation, crafted with cultural pride, love, and tech-forward brilliance:
